Jonathon Cann, the Bideford Paedophile, a 32-year-old man from Devon, has been incarcerated for sexually assaulting a female child under the age of 13.

Jonathon Cann, residing on Ayres Close in Bideford, attempted to conceal his actions by coercing the girl into promising not to disclose that he had sexually assaulted her.

However, she disclosed the truth, resulting in Jonathon Cann being brought to justice, as stated at Exeter Crown Court.

On Friday, October 3, Judge David Evans sentenced him to three and a half years.

The defendant was informed that he will serve half of his sentence in prison and the remainder on license.

Jonathon Cann refuted the charge of sexually assaulting a child under 13 but was convicted by a jury following a trial in September.

The case was postponed for one month while probation compiled a pre-sentence report on Jonathon Cann.

Judge Evans stated that the defendant had deceived the police over the events that transpired.

He informed Jonathon Cann that he had forfeited his reputation due to his reprehensible offence.

The judge stated that the matter had required over three years to reach court, and he was uncertain as to why the police had delayed in pursuing the claim.

The court was informed that the victim had been devastated by the incident and no longer trusted men.

She perceives that a portion of her childhood has been usurped by the events that transpired.
