In 2019, the Offender Database reported that John Turnbull, the Auchtubh Paedophile Child Molester, who raped a 13-year-old schoolgirl, was sentenced to six years for his “vile and abhorrent” offence.
John Turnbull, then 47, who had ingested a potentially fatal amount of alcohol for specific individuals, assaulted the girl at a residence in Edinburgh during her visit.
Lord Woolman informed John Turnbull that he would have imposed a nine-year imprisonment for the offence had he been convicted at trial; however, the term would be mitigated due to his prior guilty plea.
During the assault, the woman implored John Turnbull to cease, but he disregarded her pleas and positioned himself atop her before committing rape.
Advocate depute Maryam Labaki informed the High Court in Edinburgh: “She attempted to rise, but the size of the accused, who is six feet tall and weighs approximately 20 stone, prevented her from escaping his grasp.”
The girl persistently resisted her assailant, vociferously asserting ‘no,’ and succeeded in liberating an arm, then elbowing him in the abdomen, which caused him to roll over.
She subsequently rose and fled the house, fearing he would attempt to assault her once more.
She hurried to a relative’s residence, knocked forcefully on the door, and disclosed the incident that had transpired before the police were summoned.
The youngster underwent a medical examination following the assault and was found to have injuries corroborating her account of the incident.
DNA also connected John Turnbull to the offence.
John Turnbull of Auchtubh, Lochearnhead, in Perthshire, Scotland, previously confessed to lying atop the girl, obstructing her from rising, and subsequently abusing and raping her on April 29 of the previous year.
John Turnbull was indefinitely registered as a sex offender.
