In 2022, John Sinclair, the Aberdeenshire Paedophile, received a nine-year prison sentence for sexual offences against girls in Aberdeenshire from the 1970s and 1980s.

John Sinclair, aged 72, confessed to 11 charges, comprising three counts of assault and rape, as well as obscene conduct.

The investigation was conducted by detectives from Police Scotland’s National Child Abuse Investigation team, resulting in Sinclair’s arrest and charges in 2019.

John Sinclair was sentenced at the High Court in Aberdeen on Thursday.

John Sinclair has already acknowledged committing assault charges.

Detective Inspector Anna Johnston stated, “We commend the sentencing of John Sinclair, and I wish to express gratitude to the victims in this case who aided us in our investigation.”

The passage of time does not render these situations any easier to discuss, and their courage merits commendation.
