Imprisonment for John Raisen, the Sleaford Paedophile, who sexually assaulted an adolescent girl over 40 years prior.
John Raisen commenced his criminal activities in 1979 after initially encountering his victim in Melton Mowbray when she was approximately 13 years old. He developed an interest in her interactions with guys, which then evolved into a sexual attraction towards her.
Despite being aware of her age, his conduct commenced with unwanted touching and, over approximately 15 to 18 months, he persuaded her to participate in sexual activities.
In 2021, when John Raisen’s victim reported the incident to the authorities, she stated that John Raisen had made her feel valued and that she was unaware of the wrongdoing of his actions. Nonetheless, she had finally come to understand that he had appropriated a portion of her childhood.
Subsequent to the report, 76-year-old John Raisen was interrogated by law enforcement and chose not to respond to any enquiries posed during the interrogation.
On 19 September, after a trial at Leicester Crown Court, he was convicted of 12 charges of indecent assault and four counts of child indecency.
John Raisen, residing on North Parade in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, received a sentence of six years’ imprisonment. He has been designated a sex offender indefinitely and is subject to a lifelong restraining order preventing any contact with the victim.
