John Lohan, a 59-year-old paedophile from Doncaster, sexually exploited his victims, who are legally protected from identification, while they were girls under the age of 10.
On Friday, 11 November 2022, two victims of chronic sexual abuse, occurring before the age of 10, witnessed their abuser, John Lohan, sentenced to 20 years in prison.
In one instance, John Lohan’s sexual assault extended over several years.
Detective Constable Janine Innes stated: “Throughout this intricate and protracted investigation into heinous sexual abuse, the victims have exhibited remarkable courage, resolve, and fortitude in both disclosing their experiences and supporting our investigation and prosecution.”
John Lohan has never acknowledged his offences and has exhibited no contrition, resulting in both victims having to testify before a jury about the horrific mistreatment they endured as children.
“I commend them wholeheartedly for confronting this formidable challenge – their evidence was shocking and compelling, revealing the full magnitude of John Lohan’s atrocious crimes.”
A jury convicted John Lohan of 13 crimes, including rape and sexual assault.
DC Innes stated: “The abuse endured by both victims was profoundly horrific and has resulted in a lasting impact on their lives.”
“Today’s sentencing will not alleviate the anguish or the brutality they endured, nor will it restore what should have been the most untroubled years of their lives.
“He deprived them of their childhood, and I hope that as he commences a protracted prison sentence today, it provides some measure of closure to his victims who have maintained their dignity throughout this ordeal.”
John Lohan, previously residing at Warrenne Close, Doncaster, was convicted of six counts of sexual assault against a child under 13, two counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault, two counts of indecency with a child, and one count of causing a child to observe a sexual act, after a trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
John Lohan was issued a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) prohibiting unsupervised contact with anybody under 16 years of age.
