A 60-year-old Southport Paedophile John Klieve has been incarcerated for violating his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) at Southport Railway Station.

John Klieve of Cambridge Road, Southport was initially sentenced to 14 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 2 years, in 2019 at Liverpool Crown Court for inciting a female under 16 to engage in sexual activity, two counts of meeting an under 16, distributing indecent images of children, and three counts of making indecent images of children.

One stipulation of his SHPO was to refrain from any unsupervised interaction with children under the age of 16 unless sanctioned by a parent or guardian, or the police are informed.

In September 2022, while on a train, John Klieve gazed at a 14-year-old girl, licked his lips, and winked at her, violating the order by engaging in unsupervised contact with a minor without authorised consent. He was sentenced to 16 months of imprisonment for this violation on Friday, January 24, at Liverpool Crown Court.

BTP ViSOR Unit Offender Manager Vicky Davis said: “Ancillary orders, such as a SHPO are a great tool for us to continue to prioritise the safety of passengers on the railway, whether or not a person has served a custodial sentence. We can impose restrictions on travel or like in this case, engagement with others, and when these are breached, we will take action.

“This should act as a stark warning to anyone considering offending on the railway or breaching their SHPO; we will catch you. We take all reports of crime seriously and will support the victims and families throughout the process. We encourage all passengers to save 61016 as a contact in their phone, and text to report any suspicious behaviour they see or experience discreetly so we can take action.”
