In 2023, the Offender Database reported that a Maybole Paedophile, John Jess, allegedly made indecent comments to a young boy and sexually assaulted a girl at Ayr station. John Jess faces charges of sexual assault and indecent communication with teenagers while at Ayr Railway Station, Smith Street, on May 6 last year.
The 51-year-old, John Jess, is said to have intentionally caused the alleged male victim to hear a sexual verbal communication without his consent, repeatedly making sexual remarks to him.
Court papers state this was “for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification or humiliating, distressing, or alarming” the boy.
Prosecutors also claim that John Jess sexually assaulted a teen girl by repeatedly touching her on the body, touching her breasts and compressing them.
The accused, John Jess, of Maybole, pleaded not guilty to the charges during a brief hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court.
Bail was granted, and he will return to court to face the allegations at a later date.

In 2025, charges were dismissed against an individual accused of making inappropriate remarks to a young boy and sexually abusing a girl at Ayr railway station.
John Jess confronted accusations of sexual assault and inappropriate communication with minors at the Smith Street station on May 6, 2023.
Prosecutors have stated that they are no longer advancing the case.
The 51-year-old was charged with deliberately subjecting the male to unsolicited sexual verbal communication, with allegations stating he ‘repeatedly’ made ‘sexual remarks to him’, purportedly “for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification or humiliating, distressing, or alarming” the boy.
Jess was additionally charged with sexual assault against a teenage girl for continuously caressing her body, including her breasts, and crushing them.
The individual from Maybole had earlier entered a plea of not guilty to the allegations during a concise hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court.
He was scheduled to confront the claims again, but the case was not addressed that day.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has announced that it will discontinue the charges.
A representative stated: “Following meticulous evaluation of the facts and circumstances of the case, the procurator fiscal determined that no further proceedings would be pursued at this time.”
The prosecutor is obligated to continuously analyse cases. This encompasses instances where the prosecutor has opted to refrain from further action.
The Crown retains the ability to initiate prosecution of this case at a later date.
