A registered Northampton Paedophile sex offender, John Carver, who profited thousands of pounds by selling indecent photos of minors and subsequently attempted to blackmail his clients, has been cautioned that he may face an extended prison sentence.
John Carver, 37, faces 17 charges, including extortion by threats of locating individuals and notifying law enforcement.
Norwich Magistrates’ Court was informed that he allegedly distributed pornographic photos to internet users of the Telegram app, including those in Norfolk, between September 2024 and January 2025.
Josephine Jones, representing the prosecution, stated that he had exchanged devices to obscure his actions.
John Carver, a resident of Northampton, did not enter a plea to seven charges of blackmail and eight charges of sharing 5,272 indecent photographs and films of children, many of which are classified as category A – the most severe.
He is additionally accused of holding category A photos and failing to adhere to sex offender notification obligations by not informing the police of his location.
John Carver was detained in custody pending a hearing at Norwich Crown Court on May 2.

A man who produced and disseminated hundreds of indecent photos of minors has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
John Carver, 38, homeless, was sentenced at King’s Lynn Crown Court on Friday, July 18, after admitting to 8 counts of distributing indecent photos of a child, 2 acts of creating indecent images of a child, and 7 counts of blackmail. He also acknowledged his noncompliance with the notification requirements of the Sex Offender Register.
In January 2024, the court was informed that Carver, a registered sex offender, absconded from the designated premises in Northamptonshire where he was required to reside.
To evade apprehension, he spent the subsequent year transitioning between hotels, typically residing in each for only one or two days, employing various aliases to elude identification. To finance this lifestyle, he sold incidental photographs of youngsters online through numerous social media and storage platforms.
An intricate and thorough inquiry was initiated to monitor his transactions, and on January 8, 2025, intelligence indicated that Carver was aboard a bus to Norwich. The police were present at Norwich Bus Station upon his arrival and apprehended him.
Subsequent to his apprehension, an examination of Carver’s mobile device revealed his participation in several online forums that provided images of very young toddlers and infants. He established numerous internet payment accounts through which he collected thousands of pounds for the illicit goods. In several instances, he allegedly extorted buyers, demanding money or threatening to disclose them to the authorities.
Carver received a sentence of four and a half years in imprisonment, followed by a further four and a half years on extended license. He is permanently included on the Sex Offenders Register, and his Sexual Harm Prevention Order is indefinite.
