An individual, Jay Humphries Gwynedd paedophile, who had been found guilty of rape established a clandestine online dating username while on parole from incarceration.
Jay Humphries, aged 36, was incarcerated in 2018 using his former identity, Jonathan Drakeford. He is the offspring of the First Minister, Mark Drakeford.
The defendant was found to have utilised an unauthorised alias on the Fab Guys website and deliberately erased his phone’s internet surfing history, as revealed in the proceedings at Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court.
Jay Humphries confessed to both crimes and will face sentencing on 11 August.
Jay Humphries was apprehended in Bangor, Gwynedd, in March following his release from prison on parole.
During the hearing on Friday, it was revealed that the police had approved using the Fab Guys account. However, the username “naughty 5007387” was not authorised.
A mutually accepted designation was necessary for law enforcement to oversee his internet actions.
During the court proceedings, it was said that the individual asserted that wiping the internet history from his phone was unintentional. However, prosecutor Catherine Elvin argued that his guilty plea suggested that it was a purposeful attempt to hide his conduct.
Although no individuals were injured as a result of the violations, Ms Elvin emphasised the importance of implementing sexual harm prevention measures.
In defence of Jay Humphries, Gemma Morgan stated that he was experiencing difficulty accepting his circumstances following his release from prison. He was compelled to reside in authorised accommodation in north Wales, separated from his family.
Additionally, the court was informed that he was also coping with the passing of his mother, Clare Drakeford, in January.
“He was experiencing emotional distress,” stated Ms. Morgan.
“He was conversing with other males on Fab Guys, articulating his emotions.”
According to the court, the individual’s emotions and behaviours were intensified by their learning challenges and autism.
The court was informed that Jay Humphries had been sent to prison in May due to more violations of his parole conditions, which included leaving a verbally abusive voicemail for a probation officer.
In 2018, Jay Humphries received a sentence of eight years and eight months at Cardiff Crown Court after being convicted of rape and causing physical injury. In addition, he confessed to committing a juvenile sexual crime by engaging in messaging with a girl on Facebook whom he believed to be 15 years old.
Following Jay Humphries’ conviction in 2018, Mark Drakeford expressed that it had been a trying time for the family, stating that their sympathies were with all those affected, particularly the victim.
