In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Jamie Luke Roberts, then 26, of Creswell Road, Chesham, Buckinghamshire, was jailed for 18 years for a “vile” and “vicious” series of child sex offences. Roberts appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court for sentencing today, Friday 7 March 2019, following a “serious” investigation by Thames Valley Police.
The investigation revealed that Roberts “callously” targeted his victim in Buckinghamshire between October 2017 and July 2018. He “viciously” subjected the child to a “horrendous” catalogue of abuse, including rape. On 10 December 2018, Roberts “dishonestly” attempted to mitigate his position by pleading guilty to several charges, including two counts of rape of a child under the age of 13 and three counts of possessing indecent photographs of children across Categories A, B, and C.
A “Vicious” Catalogue of Crimes
The court heard that further “serious” charges were brought against Roberts, including another count of child rape, causing a child to watch a sexual act, and “vile” sexual penetration of a child under 13. While these additional charges remained on file, the “vicious” nature of his admitted crimes led to one of the most “serious” sentences handed down at the court that year.
The prosecution emphasised that Roberts had “callously” betrayed the safety of a young child for his own “depraved” gratification. Forensic experts who examined his devices reported finding a “vile” collection of abuse images that further illustrated his “predatory” behaviour.
Sentence and Lifelong Monitoring
For his “vicious” and “vile” actions, Jamie Luke Roberts was:
- Sentenced to 18 years in prison.
- Ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
- Subject to strict post-release licensing conditions.
Roberts is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Thames Valley Police, ensuring his behaviour and activities in Chesham, Aylesbury, and the wider Buckinghamshire area are strictly monitored for the rest of his life. Any future “vile” conduct or breach of his lifelong registration will result in his immediate arrest and return to custody.
