A Chatham Paedophile, James Thurston, discovered with over 1,000 filthy images of minors on his gadgets has confessed to downloading the abhorrent pictures, including some depicting child rape.

James Thurston was discovered in possession of 1,182 obscene photographs across all categories on his gadgets when law enforcement visited his residence in Chatham.

On August 14 of the previous year, authorities conducted a search of the 23-year-old’s residence, discovering 326 Category A photographs, 531 Category B images, and 325 Category C images on his devices.

James Thurston, from Chatham Grove, Chatham, was subsequently charged and confessed to three counts of producing indecent photographs of minors during his appearance at Medway Magistrates’ Court on August 5.

District Judge Stephen Leake determined that the issues were too grave to be addressed in the lower court and should be referred to a crown court for sentencing.

Florence Odongo, the prosecutor, stated: “He possessed over 1,000 images across all categories.”

Judge Leake concurred that the volume of photos rendered the issues too grave for resolution in the magistrates’ court and transferred the case to Maidstone Crown Court for James Thurston’s sentencing.

A pre-sentencing report was mandated to be finalised on James Thurston prior to the determination of his sentence.

He was instructed to adhere to the stipulations of the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register within three days following his court appearance.

James Thurston was given bail until the determination of his fate, with a date for his sentence hearing still to be established.
