James Green, the Lancing Paedophile, has been incarcerated for following a woman and subsequently raping her teenage relative.

James Green, 37, residing on Brighton Road in Lancing, perpetrated a prolonged campaign of stalking and harassment against a woman in her 30s for more than a year.

He vandalised her belongings by saturating her clothing and bedding with bleach and appropriated her valuables, thereafter relocating to a residence in close proximity to the victim’s home.

James Green also vandalised the woman’s vehicle, affixed derogatory posters to her garden fence, and attempted to incite her adolescent relative, his second victim, to steal her phone on his behalf.

James Green maintained touch with the young relative and commenced grooming her by sending sexual texts while asserting affiliation with a gang.

In August 2023, James Green sexually assaulted the girl in his residence; this incident was reported to the police, resulting in his arrest.

While on bail, he violated conditions prohibiting contact with the girl by intercepting her on the street and providing her with a phone to communicate with him.

In a span of four months, James Green initiated over 1,600 calls and messages to the girl, transmitting sexual videos of himself, urging her to commit suicide, and to provide a fake statement to law enforcement, asserting that the rape had not occurred. He threatened her with consequences from his imaginary gang if she declined.

In December 2024, Sussex Police obtained charges against James Green, and he was detained in custody.

James Green was tried at Lewes Crown Court and, on Tuesday, 24 June, was convicted of rape of a minor, two counts of sexual communication with a child, stalking causing significant alarm and distress, two counts of inducing a child to observe a sexual act, criminal damage, theft, incitement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, and obstruction of justice.

At the same court on Thursday, 11 September, he was sentenced to 18 years, with 12 to be spent in custody and six on extended licence. He was given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life and restraining orders against both victims.

Detective Inspector Harry Doyle said, “James Green subjected both of the victims to the most appalling ordeals.

“I would like to thank them both for the incredible courage and resolve they have shown to support this investigation and help put a dangerous man behind bars.

“I also commend the investigative team for their diligent work in bringing James Green to justice and supporting the victims throughout.
