The Brighton Nonce, James Dickens, has finally admitted guilt to sexually assaulting a woman by groping her in a street in Brighton.
James Dickens, 42, of Birdham Road, Brighton, acknowledged the charge during his appearance at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday, 12 August.
On 4 November 2022, the court was informed that the victim met friends, including James Dickens, at a pub, and after consuming some drinks, she departed with Dickens. Passersby reported witnessing James Dickens sexually assaulting her when they were seated on a wall in Hollingbury Crescent.
The police arrived, and James Dickens was apprehended and put into custody. The victim was transported to the hospital for medical examinations and assisted by specially trained officers.
The court case was postponed for the preparation of pre-sentence reports. He is scheduled to be sentenced on 22 October at Lewes Crown Court.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Elaine Welsh, said: “James Dickens was a trusted family friend of the woman who felt safe with him however, he sexually assaulted her in the street when she was at her most vulnerable. Despite pleading guilty at the last minute at court, he has shown no remorse.
“I would like to commend the bravery and strength of the victim in supporting this investigation. The impact of that night has been immensely traumatising for her. In addition, she has had to endure a lengthy wait for the court to hear the case which has only prolonged her distress.
“I would also like to thank the members of the public who witnessed this traumatic event, phoned police and helped us bring this predator to justice.”
