A registered Bolton Paedophile sex offender, Ian Beeby, has been reincarcerated following the diligent enforcement of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) by our Sex Offender Management Unit (SOMU), in collaboration with other agencies that detected violations constituting criminal crimes.
This individual had prior convictions for sexual offences against minors and, following release from incarceration, was subjected to supervision under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). This ongoing surveillance aims to prevent and discourage additional offences, and to address any violations promptly if they arise.
Earlier this year, SOMU performed a house visit following concerns that a previously convicted sex offender was violating his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). This information resulted in a fruitful visit to Ian Beeby’s residence, during which officers gathered sufficient evidence to indicate a violation of his preventive order.
In July 2025, Ian Beeby (71) of Bolton was apprehended during a home compliance inspection by SOMU, subsequent to concerns raised by the National Probation Service regarding his interactions with male minors who were recording themselves for a YouTube channel in Manchester City Centre.
Subsequent to investigations by SOMU, officers identified Ian Beeby in a video shared by the children’s family, leading to his prosecution for violating his sexual harm prevention order by communicating with a minor.
Ian Beeby’s Sexual Harm Prevention Order was established following a conviction for acts against minors, and he has been sentenced to three years in jail after appearing at Bolton Crown Court today, 18 September.
