Howard Burgess, the Northampton Paedophile, convicted of sexually abusing young boys in Northampton for two decades, has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

In February 2021, an individual informed the police that he had been subjected to abuse in Northampton throughout his childhood by a man who had established a friendship with him.

The Northamptonshire Police’s specialised rape investigation unit, SOLAR, initiated an inquiry that uncovered Howard Burgess, now 59 years old, had preyed upon multiple youngsters during the 1990s and 2000s.

The victims recounted to investigators how Howard Burgess had gained their trust and camaraderie by engaging in sports and providing transportation, subsequently progressing to sexual abuse.

Howard Burgess, previously residing on Meltham Close, Northampton, was charged with many counts of gross indecency with a child under the age of 14, affecting various victims.

In June of this year, he was tried at Northampton Crown Court, where a jury convicted him on eight charges.

On August 22, Howard Burgess reappeared in the same court where he received a seven-year prison sentence.

Howard Burgess was indefinitely registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register, subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order until further notice, and the judge additionally mandated that he may be included on the barring list by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
