Graham Rennie, the Northampton Rapist, a 50-year-old man, has been incarcerated after admitting to assaulting a woman he had never encountered prior to attempting to rob a local tavern.
On Sunday, June 15, at approximately 5:30 PM, Graham Rennie unlawfully entered an unoccupied guest room at the Best Western Hotel on Rockingham Road, Corby, despite lacking a reservation.
When confronted by a female staff member, Graham Rennie assaulted her by pushing her to the ground and threatening to murder her.
During the assault, he struck her repeatedly with punches and kicks, seized her by the throat, and engaged in inappropriate sexual contact before exiting the room.
The woman dialled 999, and upon the police’s arrival, they discovered her with facial and leg injuries, in addition to strangling marks on her neck.
While authorities were pursuing the suspect, they received an additional call at 8:15 PM concerning an incident at the adjacent Chequered Flag bar on Causeway Road, Corby, where Graham Rennie had menaced workers with violence in an effort to take food and money.
Graham Rennie, who has no permanent residence, was apprehended and subsequently indicted for sexual assault, assault, non-fatal strangulation, attempted robbery, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public area.
Following his guilty plea to the offences at Northampton Crown Court in July, Graham Rennie reappeared at the same court on October 6, when he received a four-year prison sentence.
