A 21-year-old Gillingham Paedophile and child rapist, George Payne-Woodham, has received a 20-year enhanced sentence after his young victim courageously disclosed her experience following a school safeguarding assembly.

Maidstone Crown Court was informed that the distressed youngster summoned the fortitude to disclose to a teacher, revealing details of the “truly horrifying” depravity she endured at the hands of paedophile George Payne-Woodham.

The police were notified, leading to the arrest of the Gillingham resident, George Payne-Woodham, during which online searches on his phone revealed his sexual interest in female minors.

However, George Payne-Woodham subsequently refuted the allegations, compelling the minor—described by a judge as having had her life “utterly and irretrievably shattered”—to testify during his trial in July of this year.

Jurors, however, rejected his falsehoods, asserting that no misconduct transpired and convicted him of several charges, including rape, assault by penetration, sexual assault, and enticing a minor to participate in sexual behaviour.

The predator, maintaining his innocence, has received a substantial prison sentence, which was met with approbation by his victim’s family, present in court to celebrate the conclusion of the sentencing hearing on Friday, September 12.

He was also sentenced for two distinct narcotics offences: possession of cannabis with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine.

Prosecutor Amy Nicholson informed the court that the gathering, which resulted in the revelation of George Payne-Woodham’s misconduct, centred on the subjects of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse.

Ms Nicholson added, “Following the assembly, the victim, in distress, approached a trusted teacher and disclosed the defendant’s actions towards her.”

She was interrogated by law enforcement.

She stated, “I have consistently maintained its confidentiality…”Contemplating that causes me distress.

I repeatedly urged him to cease; however, he persisted. “I am merely relieved to have spoken up; otherwise, it would have recurred.”

I repeatedly urged him to cease, but he consistently refused. I attempted to disregard the unfolding events. I was uncertain of any alternative actions.

The adolescent informed the authorities that she ultimately chose to disclose her experience due to her apprehension that George Payne-Woodham, who labelled her as “ungrateful” and attempted to justify his actions as “just playing,” would perpetrate abuse against another child.

The court was informed of the devastation and significant psychological injury inflicted, as detailed in a series of impact statements authored by the girl and her parents.

The victim reported experiencing profound grief and suicidal ideation.

“She believed that nearly everything was her responsibility when, in reality, it was far from the truth,” remarked Ms Nicholson.

Her mother, who conveyed feelings of guilt and resentment, stated that the child now experienced sadness and self-loathing.

“She expressed her desire not to exist and her disdain for her body,” she continued. “She characterises herself as unattractive and repulsive.”These are the statements he (George Payne-Woodham) would articulate to her.

Her father elaborated in his statement that the formerly confident and extroverted girl had transformed into “the antithesis of her former self”.

The court was informed that George Payne-Woodham, residing on Grange Road, conducted online searches on websites like Pornhub that contained explicit allusions to ‘small girls playing’, ‘schoolgirls riding’, and ‘beautiful young girls’.

During sentencing, Judge Oliver Saxby KC stated that George Payne-Woodham had seen his victim as his “sexual plaything,” and characterised her disclosure as not only “truly horrifying offending” but also indicative of her “sense of helplessness.”

He further denounced the defendant’s persistent denials.

You assert your innocence, notwithstanding the jury’s conviction based on unequivocal evidence. Judge Saxby commented, “You have the audacity to deny any sexual interest in children.”

The online searches uncovered by the police indicate a distinct interest not in little adults, as you asserted in your testimony, but rather in minors, specifically referred to as ‘school girls,’ ‘little girls,’ and ‘little adolescents,’ as you described.

Your actions have irrevocably devastated her life and the lives of those around her.

And all for anything as trivial as your sexual desires.

Judge Saxby articulated his rationale for concluding that George Payne-Woodham presented a threat, necessitating an extended sentence: “I am convinced that there currently exists a substantial risk to the public that you will inflict serious harm through the perpetration of additional specified offences.”

  • The type and scope of the offences.
  • Your refusal to acknowledge any misconduct.
  • Your denial of any sexual attraction to youngsters.
  • Your general attitude towards ladies and specifically towards the victim.
  • Furthermore, your emotionally volatile demeanour.

You have completely and irrevocably destroyed her life, as well as the lives of those around her.

George Payne-Woodham received a 20-year extended sentence, serving 16 years, with a requirement to complete at least two-thirds before being eligible for parole. Upon a safe release determination, a further four years will be appended to his licence period.

He was also subjected to a 25-year sexual harm prevention order and will be mandated to register as a sex offender eternally.

For the drug offences to which George Payne-Woodham confessed, he received concurrent jail sentences of seven months and one month, to be served alongside the longer sentence.
