In 2022, three Bedford Sex Offenders, Gemti Hyka, Ibrahim Bezati, and Vullnet Haka, were convicted of kidnapping, false imprisonment, and raping a woman who was out for the night in Bedford.

Gemti Hyka, then 31, of Cambridge Road, Ibrahim Bezati, then 36, of Caves Lane, and Vullnet Haka, then 33, of Washburn Close, all residents of Bedford, were convicted of charges including kidnapping, false detention, and rape after a three-week trial at Luton Crown Court.

The trial revealed that in September 2021, the victim visited Bedford town centre to dine and socialise with a friend, and thereafter attended a nightclub where she was accosted by Gemti Hyka, but chose to walk away with her companion.

Later that evening on the high street, Gemti Hyka confronted the victim once more, who had separated from her companion. He thereafter abducted her and transported her to a BP station on Newnham Avenue in his vehicle. The victim attempted to signal for assistance but was unsuccessful. He thereafter escorted her to a residence in Kempston, where Ibrahim Bezati and Vullnet Haka awaited.

The victim was compelled to use cocaine before being sexually assaulted by all three individuals at the location. She ultimately succeeded in escaping and signalled to a bystander who assisted her in contacting the police and her family.

Gemti Hyka, Ibrahim Bezati, and Vullnet Haka denied the offences but were found guilty at Luton Crown Court today, Thursday (14 April 2022):

  • Gemti Hyka was found guilty of one count of kidnapping, one count of false imprisonment and three counts of rape.
  • Ibrahim Bezati was found guilty of one count of false imprisonment and two counts of rape.
  • Vullnet Haka was found guilty of one count of false imprisonment and two counts of rape.
