The Offender Database reported that Gary Shields, the Paedophile Child Molester, received a sentence for his offences against children earlier this month.
In January 2024, the victim, a 12-year-old girl, was approached on TikTok by Gary Shields.
Gary Shields praised the victim, and they exchanged contact information, subsequently maintaining communication via WhatsApp, Snapchat, and video conversations.
Gary Shields, residing in Scotland at the time, scheduled a meeting with the victim in Penwortham on February 2nd.
Gary Shields transported the young child to a parking lot, where he perpetrated rape and sexual abuse against her.
The girl’s mom discovered messages on her phone, which were then reported to us.
Gary Shields was apprehended and, while he acknowledged engaging in online communication with the girl, he refuted allegations of rape or sexual abuse.
He was asked whether he was aware of the victim’s age.
Gary Shields stated that he did not recall, yet he was aware that she was youthful.
When asked whether he was aware that the victim was attired in her school uniform at the time of their encounter, he responded that he believed so.
During his interview, Gary Shields attributed his behaviours to a drug addiction.
When probed about his sexual attraction to minors during his substance abuse, he replied, ‘Maybe.’
At the time of the offence, he was on parole from Police Scotland, with stipulations prohibiting communication with individuals under the age of 16.
Analysis of Gary Shields’s devices revealed photographs of the victim and Google searches containing the victim’s school name.
Indecent photographs and a video were also discovered on his phone.
After a consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Gary Shields, 37, of no fixed address, was charged with the rape of a girl under 13 and with causing or persuading a girl under 13 to engage in sexual conduct.
He entered a guilty plea at Preston Crown Court on 16 July 2025 and subsequently received a sentence of 9 years’ imprisonment with an extended licence period of 1 year, as announced on 3 November.
