Fawaz Alsamaou, 33, of Huddersfield, a West Yorkshire rapist, has been incarcerated for sexually abusing a lady in Cathays, Cardiff, following a Crimewatch plea that led to his identification.
On the early morning of Sunday, May 12, 2024, the woman was traversing from the city centre when she noticed a man following her.
She was subsequently sexually attacked beneath the railway bridge near Senghenydd Hall.
Thorough investigations were carried out, leading to the identification of Fawaz Alsamaou as a suspect after a CCTV plea for information on BBC Crimewatch.
Fawaz Alsamaou was adjudicated and sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court today to three years and one month of incarceration for sexual assault, with an additional concurrent term of 16 months for purposeful strangling.
