Emmanuel Igwebuike, the South London Paedophile, mentored young boys in South London, assuring them of advancements in their athletic careers.

In 2022, Emmanuel Igwebuike, 35, was sentenced to 15 years in jail by the Inner London Crown Court on Friday after being convicted of 22 counts of sexual assault.

He was issued a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will remain on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.

Emmanuel Igwebuike operated a coaching academy in southwest London, perpetrating the assaults after establishing a trusting rapport with the boys by assuring them of advancements in their football careers.

The seven male victims were aged between 14 and 18 at the time of the acts.

Emmanuel Igwebuike allegedly focused on boys at a nearby church or after observing them practise in surrounding parks.

The offences occurred between June 2019 and April 2021 at multiple places, including Emmanuel Igwebuike’s previous residences in Lambeth and Putney, as well as a hotel in Birmingham.

Detective Constable Elaine Hutton, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said:

“These offences committed by Emmanuel Igwebuike are of an extremely serious nature. They have had a significant impact on the lives of the young victims and especially their families, who trusted him and were subject to his manipulation. I would like to thank them all for their bravery during this investigation.

“We are keen to establish whether there are other victims of Emmanuel Igwebuike who have yet to come forward. Anyone who believes they were a victim of Emmanuel Igwebuike is asked to contact the police.”
