In 2022, Elek Horvath, the Hanley Rapist, was incarcerated for the sexual assault of a woman in Stoke-on-Trent.

Elek Horvath, 23, of Hanley, was sentenced to eight years imprisonment at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court today (Friday 26 August) after he was found guilty of the rape of a woman at the same court yesterday (Thursday 25 August 2022).

Law enforcement was summoned to Hope Street, Hanley, subsequent to the rape that transpired at 6:30 AM on Sunday, January 16.

Elek Horvath was arrested a few hours after the incident.

Detective Sergeant Dawn Moody, from the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences unit, stated: “Horvath exhibited premeditated, predatory conduct that morning.”

Elek Horvath selected the victim after several hours of perambulating in Hanley.

The victim has had to endure the re-experiencing of her trauma in court, and the bravery required for this should not be underestimated.

I hope that she can find some closure and make a fresh start now that proceedings have concluded.

“I wish to express my gratitude to the officer who identified and apprehended Horvath within hours of the incident.”
