In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Edward Seamark, 74, of Queens Court, Eaton Socon, Cambridgeshire, was sentenced to 10 years in prison at Peterborough Crown Court. Seamark committed a series of predatory sexual assaults against two young boys over two years, continuing his abuse even after being released on bail for his initial offences.

The court heard that the paedophile first targeted a young boy in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, in June 2017. During this incident, Seamark led the child to an alleyway, exposed himself multiple times, and sexually touched the boy while instructing him to remove his clothing. In December 2018, while on bail, Seamark assaulted a second boy in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, twice pulling down the child’s trousers to touch him. One victim later told family members that Seamark’s actions made him feel “sad.”

When initially questioned by Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Seamark attempted to claim his actions were not deliberate. However, he eventually admitted to four counts of assaulting a boy under 13 by touching, exposure, and inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity. Detective Constable Kevin Poole noted that Seamark’s actions were a calculated breach of trust against vulnerable children who showed immense bravery in disclosing the abuse.

On Friday, February 15, 2019, Edward Seamark was sentenced to 10 years in prison. In addition to his custodial term, the judge imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which indefinitely bans Seamark from having unsupervised contact with boys under 16 or forming relationships with parents of minors. An 11-year restraining order was also granted to protect witnesses involved in the case.

As a result of his convictions for serious sexual offences against children, Seamark has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. He will be managed under the highest level of Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) in Cambridgeshire. Upon his eventual release, he will be subject to strict monitoring by police and probation services to ensure he complies with all lifetime notification requirements.
