In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Dylan Stirling, then 26, was handed an 11-year extended sentence at the High Court. On Monday, 26 January 2026, Stirling was jailed for the rape of an “isolated and vulnerable” 14-year-old girl at his flat in Charleston, Dundee.

The investigation established that the attack occurred on 8 June 2024, just five months after Stirling had been released from prison for a previous crime. The victim had taken a late-night taxi to his home seeking cannabis. Stirling, a “remorseless” crack cocaine user and convicted woman-beater, was found guilty by a majority verdict following a trial in December 2025.

Incident and Victim Impact

The court heard that after the “horrific” assault, the 14-year-old girl fled the property and alerted a shop security guard. Lady Ross described Stirling as “self-serving” and noted the extreme fear the victim experienced during the “vicious” ordeal.

Stirling appeared for sentencing via video link from HMP Perth. The court reported that he has 22 previous convictions, including violence, domestic abuse, and possession of knives. Social workers subsequently classified him as a “high-risk” offender.

Sentence and Statutory Requirements

For his “depraved” crimes in Dundee, Dylan Stirling was handed the following:

  • Extended Sentence: A total of 11 years, with eight years to be served in custody and three years on licence.
  • Sex Offenders Register: Stirling was placed on the register for the rest of his life.
  • Non-Harassment Order: A life-long order was imposed to protect the victim from any future contact.
  • Backdating: The sentence was backdated to May 2025 to account for time served on remand.

Monitoring and Public Protection

Stirling is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Police Scotland. Due to his “persistent” history of violence and his high-risk status, his eventual release will be under “critical” scrutiny.

As a lifetime member of the Sex Offenders Register, Stirling must comply with strict notification requirements regarding his address and travel. Police Scotland states that they will use all available resources to monitor him during the three-year extended supervision period of his sentence. Any breach of his non-harassment order or registration conditions will result in his immediate return to the High Court.
