Dylan Cathrae, the Bude Rapist and Sex Offender, A brutal and unrepentant rapist from Cornwall, who inflicted both physical and emotional abuse on his victim, including extinguishing cigarettes on her, has been sentenced to prison.
Dylan Cathrae, 20, who smirked in his prison photograph, was convicted of six charges, including rape and witness intimidation, by a jury at Truro Crown Court in October.
The court was informed that police received allegations against Dylan Cathrae, previously residing at Swallow Close in Bude, for raping and sexually assaulting a woman, as well as subjecting her to physical and emotional abuse.
The court was informed of how he physically assaulted his victim, sexually violated her, and struck her in the throat with such force that she experienced breathing difficulties.
Among the abuses he perpetrated were extinguishing a cigarette on his victim’s body and subjecting her to a crude medical examination by illuminating her intimate areas with his phone’s torch.
During the interrogation by investigators, Dylan Cathrae asserted that the allegations of sexual offences were fabricated out of envy.
When told by officers that his behaviour could be seen as ‘obsessive’ and ‘controlling’, he answered, “…how’s that a bad thing?”
During his sentencing hearing today (November 6), the victim read a statement to the court in which she said the crimes had “ruined my life”.
He was jailed for:
- Rape
- Two counts of assault by penetration
- Coercive and controlling behaviour
- Non-fatal strangulation
- Witness intimidation
Dylan Cathrae had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment against a second victim.
Dylan Cathrae was sentenced to 10 years in prison and has been given a restraining order against both victims.
