Yet another British Guest and unrepentant asylum seeker murderer, Deng Chol Majek, followed an asylum hotel employee, Rhiannon Skye Whyte, to a train station and subsequently stabbed her 23 times in the head and torso with a screwdriver, all while ‘laughing and dancing.’
The woman, Rhiannon Skye Whyte, 27, was left to bleed to death after the incident at Bescot Stadium train station in Walsall, West Midlands.
She passed away in the hospital, encircled by relatives, three days later.
The mother had recently completed a shift at the Park Inn by Radisson hotel, where Deng Chol Majek had been residing, the jury was informed.
Wolverhampton Crown Court was informed that Deng Chol Majek, 19, was seen on CCTV trailing the mother before her screams were audible during a phone call to a friend.
Prosecutor Michelle Heeley KC stated: “He pursued her onto the train platform at Bescot Stadium station and subsequently assaulted her.”
Repeatedly stabbing her with a screwdriver. He abandoned her to bleed to death and then nonchalantly returned to his hotel.
We assert that one can be certain in his culpability for murder.
The jurors were informed that the Sudanese national, Deng Chol Majek, procured a beverage from a neighbouring establishment and thereafter discarded Rhiannon Skye Whyte’s phone into a river.
It was reported that he was then observed “dancing and laughing, evidently exhilarated by his actions” at the hotel.
The court was informed that Rhiannon Skye Whyte had been employed at the hotel for around three months, assisting with tasks such as cleaning and food service, while the defendant resided in room 309.
On October 20 of the previous year, a colleague observed Deng Chol Majek “gazing at Rhiannon Skye Whyte and her female associates,” according to the prosecution.
Ms Heeley stated, “No one could remember any specific issue that might have prompted him to behave in that manner.”
There was a concern with broken biscuits among certain people, but it was not significant.
The CCTV footage clearly shows the defendant, Deng Chol Majek, loitering in the reception area, fixating on Rhiannon Skye Whyte throughout the evening.
“He donned a distinctive jacket and sandals before awaiting Rhiannon Skye Whyte in the reception area.”
The jurors were informed that after Rhiannon Skye Whyte departed to return home at 11 PM, Deng Chol Majek pursued her.
Ms Heeley stated, “He had been loitering, anticipating her departure, and followed her only when she was alone.”
At 11:04 PM, Rhiannon Skye Whyte contacted a buddy and was recorded on CCTV, with Deng Chol Majek appearing two minutes thereafter.
He subsequently reduced the distance to 90 seconds and then to 30 seconds as she arrived at the desolate station at 11:13 PM, the court was informed.
The prosecutor stated, “It was at that moment that the prosecution asserts this defendant assaulted her.” Rhiannon Skye Whyte was conversing with her friend.
However, it fell silent prior to the friend hearing a scream, followed by another scream.
The phone ceased functioning around 11:19 PM.
Subsequently, this defendant was observed ascending the stairs from the platform. He held a glowing thing in his hand – Rhiannon Skye Whyte’s mobile phone.
Rhiannon Skye Whyte’s companion alerted the police after hearing screaming and also notified the hotel, which dispatched an employee to the station.
The train Rhiannon Skye Whyte was scheduled to board arrived at 11:24 PM, and the driver observed a figure lying on the platform.
Ms Heeley stated, “The guard attempted to assist Rhiannon Skye Whyte, as did the staff member who had arrived from the hotel.”
Regrettably, her injuries were too severe, and nothing could be done to preserve her life.
She expired on October 23, having never regained consciousness.
The attack was characterised by its brutal nature, resulting in significant bloodshed.
Rhiannon Skye Whyte sustained a total of 23 stab wounds.
The majority of the stab wounds were inflicted on her head, although some were located on the left side of her chest and left arm, suggesting she attempted to defend herself against her assailant.
Eleven of the stab wounds had breached her skull, with one specifically injuring the brain stem, which ultimately resulted in her death.
The defendant’s fingernails were examined, revealing DNA beneath them that belonged to Rhiannon Skye Whyte.
Deng Chol Majek refutes (with the aid of a translator) allegations of murder and the possession of a screwdriver as an offensive weapon.
The trial goes on.
