A Leicester Rapist, Danny Pechap, convicted of raping a woman has received a sentence of seven and a half years in jail.

Danny Pechap, 21, assaulted the victim, a woman in her 20s, after a party they both attended on Friday, April 26 of this year.

The victim and the defendant were unfamiliar with one another, however they shared mutual acquaintances. Danny Pechap, residing on Birds Nest Avenue in Leicester, returned to the location where the victim was lodging and sexually assaulted her while she was asleep.

Upon awakening the subsequent morning, she saw her shorts were inside out and stained with blood.

She went to A&E and the assault was reported to police.

Danny Pechap, known to the sister of the victim, was arrested and an investigation was carried out, including seizing a number of mobile phones, DNA samples and clothing.

Emma Bailey, the police investigating officer, from the force’s Signal team, said: “Two mobile phones were taken from the defendant, one of which showed videos of the assault taking place.

“Danny Pechap took advantage of her, taking off her clothes, while she was unable to stop him.”

The victim reported that a bedsheet was missing from the room, suspecting that the defendant had taken it with him.

Danny Pechap admitted taking it with him, saying it was stained with blood, and throwing it in a bin away from the accommodation. The sheet was never found, but he clearly knew it would be damning if it was left in the room.

Miss Bailey added: “This young woman was subjected to a sexual assault, leaving her scared and concerned about what might happen to her in the future.

“No one should be left to feel like this.”

Danny Pechap appeared at Leicester Crown Court today (Thursday 10 October) to be sentenced. Danny Pechap entered a guilty plea to one count of rape of a woman over 16 at the same court on 29 August.
