Back in 2021, a child and animal abuser, Danielle Toni O’Brien, who sexually and physically abused her puppy to the extent that she required euthanasia, was incarcerated.

Danielle Toni O’Brien inflicted serious physical harm on the puppy, resulting in sustained injuries to her leg, pelvis, and spine, following a two-month period of torture and abuse, alongside her partner, Jerome Lothian.

The PDSA animal charity alerted the RSPCA due to concerns about Mula’s several injuries incurred over several months, which lacked a credible explanation.

The small dog exhibited untreated prior injuries, a recent fracture in her hind limb, and genital mutilation.

She has trouble walking on her hind legs and was bleeding from her nostrils, along with receiving injuries to her mouth and tongue.

The veterinarian evaluated the extent of Mula’s injuries and concluded that, despite thorough treatment, she would have persistent pain; therefore, the most humane decision was to euthanise her to relieve her suffering.

Magistrates were informed that Danielle Toni O’Brien denied Mula’s euthanasia to intentionally prolong her suffering, prompting the involvement of law enforcement.

Helen Mead, an inspector for the RSPCA, remained with the vulnerable puppy while awaiting the arrival of the police.

She stated that the dog scarcely moved; however, after a while, Mula utilised her front legs to propel herself forward for a belly rub and rested her head in the officer’s hands.

Danielle Toni O’Brien could provide plausible explanations for the majority of the injuries.

Danielle Toni O’Brien, from Nottingham, ONLY received a 12-month community order, which includes 20 rehabilitation requirement days, and a deprivation order concerning another dog in her possession was imposed.

The 31-year-old child and animal abuser was additionally mandated to remit £2,000 in expenses and an £85 victim surcharge.
