A Nottingham paedophile pervert, Daniel Hanford, was discovered to possess almost 2,000 disturbing child abuse photographs on his gadgets in the Beeston residence he lives with his mother. Nottingham Crown Court was informed that Daniel Hanford’s “deeply unpleasant offences” involved deriving sexual gratification from seeing abhorrent material, which also encompassed animated representations of children being abused.

The 34-year-old, Daniel Hanford has been spared from immediate incarceration due to several considerations, including his absence of prior convictions, expressions of sorrow, and a letter of endorsement from his mother, who attended court this week to support him. Recorder John Gallagher imposed a 12-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, stating: “You may perceive this as a victimless crime, but the truth is that it is not.”

“People are watching this filth and people are creating it for profit. What you did was very bad but it does not make you automatically a bad man and I think you understand that.

“These were offences you should not even have been contemplating. I accept you have problems in life and lots of them. You are a remarkably lucky man who has got a mother giving you love and support and you should be very, very thankful for that.

“You are very capable of making something of your life, and I hope that in the course of time, you will gain social confidence and you might meet someone you can have some kind of long-term relationship with. I hope that happens.

“But it won’t happen if you carry on offending like this, not just because it is unpleasant but because it also leads to self-loathing, so it is a habit you must kick.”

Jonathan Dee, prosecuting, said police became aware that an internet address linked to the defendant was being used to download indecent images of children and so, on October 4, 2023, they carried out a raid.

He said devices were seized and analysed, and on them were three of the most serious category A images, which typically show adults raping young children. The prosecutor said there were also four category B, 1,929 category C and 21 prohibited images of children, which were “cartoon depictions” of abuse.

Daniel Hanford, of Marlborough Road, told the police he had been looking at “Russian pornography” and later pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children and prohibited images of children and has no previous convictions.

Igby Johnson, mitigating, said his client has “a number of” mental health problems, had sent “a letter of apology” and had been provided with “a “lovely reference” from his mother [LOVELY STUFF].

As part of the suspended sentence order, the judge ordered the defendant, Daniel Hanford, to attend 30 rehabilitation sessions, a 12-month mental health treatment programme and to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work. He also placed him on the sex offender register for 10 years and handed him a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
