A Plymouth Paedophile from Devon, Curtis Carwithen, an adolescent found guilty of four charges of rape on a girl, has been sentenced to imprisonment.

Curtis Carwithen, 18, of Fegen Road, Plymouth, was convicted on July 23 of this year after a four-week trial at Plymouth Crown Court for four charges of rape on a minor under the age of 18.

The court was informed that all four incidents occurred when Curtis Carwithen was under the age of 18.

All the offences occurred in Plymouth. He was acquitted of several other charges involving three other females, all under the age of 18.

Judge Mathew Turner informed Curtis Carwithen that since the offences occurred when he was under 18 and the trial was postponed until after he reached that age, he would impose a sentence, seeing him as a minor.

He imposed a concurrent sentence of four years and six months for each of the rapes on Curtis Carwithen.

Curtis Carwithen was informed that he would spend a maximum of two-thirds of his sentence, with the time already spent in remand at a youth detention centre and prison being credited towards it, having been in custody since December 9 of the previous year.

Judge Turner stated that Curtis Carwithen will be released but will remain on licence for the duration of his sentence.

He was informed that he will remain on the Sex Offender Register for the duration of his life. He was additionally mandated to remit a victim surcharge of £41.

He was additionally subjected to four restraining orders concerning four young females.

Judge Turner stated that the restraining orders were sought by all four women, and he deemed the seven-year duration of the orders essential to avert further offences by Curtis Carwithen.

Judge Turner lifted the reporting limitations imposed during the trial that prohibited the media from identifying Curtis Carwithen.
