Conrad Simmons, the Downpatrick Paedophile, was sentenced to three years in prison on Monday, January 8, 2024, for intimidating a witness in a court case concerning the conviction of a fellow paedophile for child sex offences in Wirral.
The previous month, Conrad Simmons, aged 61, residing on Commons Road in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland, entered a guilty plea to two witness intimidation charges at Liverpool Crown Court.
Conrad Simmons was found guilty of attempting to intimidate a witness associated with the prosecution of imprisoned paedophile David Joseph McMullan, residing in Demesne View, Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland.
McMullan, aged 33, was sentenced to 19 years in prison, along with a further five years on licence, in November 2022 after admitting guilt on the first day of a scheduled trial to four counts of child rape involving a victim under 16 at Liverpool Crown Court.
Last month, the court was informed that Conrad Simmons had made several unsolicited phone calls to the victim’s family during McMullan’s court proceedings in July and August 2022.
He visited the family residence in Wirral in September 2022, shortly before the commencement of McMullan’s trial.
The family notified the police, who tracked the mobile number to Conrad Simmons, as he had previously visited McMullan in prison.
Today, Conrad Simmons received a three-year prison sentence and a lifetime restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim and her family.
