In 2012, the Offender Database reported that Colin Spencer, the Southowram Paedophile Child Molester, then 53-year-old man from Brighouse, was sentenced to 14 years after being convicted of multiple serious sex offences.

The case transpired at Bradford Crown Court, where the judiciary meticulously scrutinised Colin Spencer’s deeds and past.

Colin Spencer, a former demolition worker and ex-resident of Marion Street in Brighouse, engaged in a troubling sequence of criminal acts against a teenage girl.

The victim, whose name is legally safeguarded, initially reported instances of abuse commencing in 2004.

At that moment, she opted not to file criminal charges against Colin Spencer, possibly due to apprehension or ambiguity.

Only after Colin Spencer transmitted explicit sexual messages to her in September did she feel obligated to reach out to law enforcement authorities once more.

Subsequent to this re-established communication, law enforcement authorities issued a warrant for the apprehension of Colin Spencer.

He was arrested and subsequently confessed to three charges of rape and sexual assault against the same victim.

The court proceedings disclosed that Colin Spencer exhibited a disturbing pattern of predatory behaviour, characterised by restraining the girl by her wrists during assaults and issuing threats to murder her should she report the abuse.

The threats and violent techniques highlighted the gravity of his misbehaviour.

During the hearing, prosecutor Nicholas Askins outlined Colin Spencer’s extensive criminal background, which dates back to the 1970s.

His prior convictions encompass an indecent assault in the 1970s, a 12-month incarceration in 1986 for attempting to kiss and fondle a girl under 16, and a suspended sentence in 1988 following the groping of a lady.

These previous convictions presented a troubling portrayal of Colin Spencer’s enduring problems with sexual misbehaviour.

Colin Spencer’s arrest in November was a pivotal moment, as he originally refuted any sexual engagement with the complainant.

He acknowledged the claims only upon entering his guilty pleas last month.

The victim’s statement, presented in court, articulated the significant psychological anguish caused by Colin Spencer’s conduct.

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC recognised the profound and enduring effects of the acts, underscoring that the victim’s anguish will probably last for the whole of her life.

During his sentencing remarks, Judge Durham Hall emphasised that Colin Spencer’s perspective on sexual conduct was profoundly concerning.

He cited the explicit messages Colin Spencer had dispatched last year, which contained monetary propositions, further exemplifying his predatory inclinations.

The judge determined that Colin Spencer remained a persistent menace to women and consequently prolonged his licence period by an extra six years beyond the 14-year jail sentence.

Colin Spencer from Southowram, Calderdale, West Yorkshire, is now mandated to register as a lifelong sex offender and will be subjected to an indefinite sexual crimes protection order, which ensures continuous monitoring and limits to avert further harm.
