Cody Tierney, the Swindon Paedophile, has been incarcerated after admitting guilt to multiple sexual offences against a female child
Cody Tierney, 21, of Dulverton Avenue, Swindon, confessed to three charges of sexual touching of a minor, aged between 13 and 15, and engaging in sexual conduct with a 14-year-old in July 2024.
During a hearing at Swindon Crown Court today (01/10), he received a sentence of two years and three months in prison.
Cody Tierney will be placed on the Sex Offender Register for a duration of 10 years, subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and an indefinite restraining order.
Beginning in April 2023, Cody Tierney, who was acquainted with the victim, progressively intensified his grooming behaviour towards the victim, who had recently turned 13.
He initiated contact by sending sexually explicit communications to the victim, subsequently instructing her to delete them, before progressing to physical sexual contact.
In May 2023, Cody Tierney sexually attacked the victim on a train, and in July 2024, he pressured the victim into engaging in sexual behaviour with him. He subsequently instructed her to refrain from disclosing any information and emphasised the necessity of maintaining distance.
In September 2024, the victim’s mother reported the offences to the police on her daughter’s behalf.
Cody Tierney was apprehended and subsequently indicted. He declined to offer a statement during the interview and first entered a plea of not guilty before altering his plea in July of this year.
Investigating officer DC Melanie Reeves of the Child Abuse Investigation Team said: “This was a traumatic experience for the victim where she was sexually assaulted by someone she trusted.
“Cody Tierney abused that trust in a horrible way with gradually escalating behaviour despite being in close proximity to her family.
“I would like to pay tribute to the victim for her bravery in getting to this point, and I hope that today’s sentencing can start to bring some closure for her.”
