Clive Manning, the Crawley Paedophile, has been incarcerated for sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl in Crawley.
Clive Manning encountered the young victim, whose identity is legally protected, at 21 while residing in the town during the 1980s. He manipulated her and participated in sexual relations with the girl for several months prior to relocating.
Over 30 years later, the duo encountered each other serendipitously, and this encounter compelled the victim to courageously report the abuse to law enforcement for the first time in October 2017.
Manning, 54, of Burnt Oak Lane, Newdigate, Surrey, was apprehended and indicted on 12 charges of indecent assault, occurring between autumn 1986 and spring 1987.
He was found guilty of all charges at Lewes Crown Court on January 7 and jailed for 15 years on January 16.
Detective Sergeant Martin Alchin-Gadd of Sussex Police said after the sentencing: “The victim was courageous to come forward after all this time.
“She has lived with the abuse she suffered as a child for a long time before deciding to come and speak to us.
“Now she has seen justice served.”
