Christian Schonenberger, a 22-year-old male Tayside Rapist was convicted of grave sexual offences and violence in the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday, 9 September 2024.
From September 2022 to January 2023, Christian Schonenberger regularly sexually assaulted a woman in the Tayside region. He was convicted after a week-long trial. He is scheduled to be sentenced at a future date.
Detective Constable Daniel Cogan, Police Scotland, said:
“Christian Schonenberger is a violent and abusive individual whose abuse left the woman with lifelong injuries.
“Christian Schonenberger has now been made to face the consequences of his despicable actions, and I sincerely hope that his conviction will provide the woman with some form of justice.
“Police Scotland thoroughly investigates all reports of sexual crimes and, with the assistance of our partners, will support those who come forward throughout the process.
“I’d encourage anyone who has been the victim of domestic abuse and or a sexual crime, regardless of when it happened, to report it to us in the confidence we will do all we can to bring the person responsible to justice.”
