A former police constable of Hertfordshire Constabulary, the Hitchin Sex Offender, Chris Rann, was sentenced in court yesterday, Wednesday, August 6.
Chris Rann, 47, from Hitchin, initially appeared at Luton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, July 3, where he entered a guilty plea to two counts of assault by beating and one act of sexual assault.
The incidents occurred in December 2024 and pertain to a single victim.
During a hearing yesterday in the same court, Chris Rann received a 12-month high-level community order punishment.
He was mandated to fulfil 200 hours of community service, a 15-day rehabilitation program, and will be registered as a sex offender for five years. He was additionally required to pay £500 in compensation, £85 in costs, and a 12-month restraining order was imposed on the victim.
Chris Rann had been suspended from duty pending the result of an internal investigation and has now resigned from his post. A Hertfordshire Constabulary silly boys conduct hearing will be conducted in due time to see if they want to fire him even though he has resigned.
