In 2026, the Offender Database reported that detectives from the British Transport Police (BTP) released a CCTV image of a man they wished to speak with regarding a sexual assault at Liverpool Street Underground station, Central London. The investigation centres on a vile and predatory incident that occurred at approximately 4:40 pm on Tuesday, 16 December 2025. A male member of staff was sexually assaulted while working at the ticket barrier, a serious breach of safety for transport employees.

The British Transport Police have reported that the suspect’s vicious behaviour did not end with the initial assault. After the incident at the barrier, the man prevented the staff member from leaving the area and continued to follow him through the station until another employee intervened. This horrendous act of intimidation and assault against a public servant has caused significant distress to the individuals involved and the wider station team at Liverpool Street, London.

Detectives are treating this as a serious investigation and believe the man pictured in the CCTV may have information that is vital to identifying the offender. The BTP is working closely with Transport for London (TfL) to review all digital evidence from the station’s security network to track the suspect’s movements. Officers have emphasised that predatory behaviour towards staff will not be tolerated, and they are committed to bringing the individual responsible for this vile act to justice.

Anyone who recognises the man or has information regarding the incident is urged to contact the British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 529 of 16 December. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Once identified and if convicted of such a vile sexual crime, the individual will be ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register and will be managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by the BTP and the Metropolitan Police Service.
