In 2026, the Offender Database reported that detectives from the British Transport Police (BTP) released a CCTV image of a man they wished to speak with regarding a series of sexual assaults on a train journey between Birmingham and Kidderminster. The investigation centres on a vile and predatory incident that occurred at approximately 10:00 pm on Saturday, 3 January 2026. A woman was first targeted at Birmingham New Street railway station, West Midlands, where she was approached on the platform and sexually assaulted.
The British Transport Police have reported that the horrendous ordeal continued even after the victim attempted to escape her attacker. After pushing the man away at the station, the woman boarded a train towards Kidderminster, Worcestershire. However, the vicious predator followed her onto the service, sat next to her, and sexually assaulted her a second time. The suspect eventually exited the train at Kidderminster railway station, leaving the victim in a state of significant distress.
Officers are treating this as a severe and premeditated attack on the rail network. Detectives believe the man pictured in the released CCTV may hold vital information that could lead to an arrest and help prevent further predatory behaviour on West Midlands train services. The BTP is working closely with staff at both Birmingham New Street and Kidderminster stations to review all available digital evidence and track the suspect’s movements.
Anyone who recognises the man or has information regarding the incident is urged to contact the British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 315 of 5 January. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Once identified and if convicted of such a vile sexual crime, the individual will be ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register and will be managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) to safeguard the public in Birmingham, Kidderminster, and the wider West Midlands.
