In 2011, the Offender Database reported that Brian Keith Griffiths, a paedophile, then 56, formerly of Lancaster, Lancashire, was sentenced to 10 years in prison at Preston Crown Court. Griffiths, a “vile” and “predatory” offender, targeted four young girls with repeated and “vicious” sexual attacks over an eight-year period between 2003 and 2011. The investigation by Lancashire Constabulary revealed that the victims were aged just eight or nine years old when the “horrific” abuse began, involving a serious and “depraved” campaign of sexual violence.

The court heard horrendous details of the 17 counts to which Griffiths pleaded guilty, including multiple counts of sexual assault by penetration and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The prosecution reported that Griffiths utilised his proximity to the victims to carry out “vile” acts of touching and penetration, causing significant and lasting psychological trauma to the four girls. His “vicious” disregard for the innocence of children in Lancashire marked him as a serious danger to the public.

Following his 10-year custodial sentence, Brian Keith Griffiths was released from prison in 2016, having served the minimum required term of his sentence. Since his release, he has relocated and is reportedly living in Keighley, Bradford, West Yorkshire. His presence in the Bradford area is subject to serious and permanent monitoring by the authorities to ensure the safety of the local community and to prevent any further predatory behaviour toward children.

As a result of his convictions for rape-equivalent penetration and sexual assault, Brian Keith Griffiths is ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. He is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by both West Yorkshire Police and the National Probation Service. Any breach of his strict notification requirements or further vile behaviour in Keighley, Bradford, or elsewhere will result in his immediate arrest and return to prison.
