In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Brett Welldon, a Sheffield Paedophile Sex Offender, apprehended by paedophile hunters, evaded incarceration despite attempting to lure a fictitious child into sexual activities.

Brett Welldon, then 23, originating from Sheffield and currently without a fixed home, received a community order aimed at modifying his behaviour during his appearance at Basildon Crown Court.

He was apprehended in March 2017 after he brought his laptop to a second-hand electronics store, where employees discovered hundreds of indecent photographs of youngsters on the device.

The photos included the sexual abuse of minors and animal pornography.

Phillipa Page, for the prosecution, stated: “During the investigation, he interacted with an individual from a group attempting to identify paedophiles.”

A fraudulent profile was created.

In July, Brett Welldon sought to establish a friendship and initiated communication with what he believed to be a 12-year-old girl.

He transmitted images and videos of himself engaging in sexual acts. He was discovered by members of the paedophile hunting organisation ‘Shadow Hunters UK,’ who subsequently notified the police.

Brett Welldon additionally contacted Essex Police to confess.

Judge Ian Graham sentenced Brett Welldon on Friday following his appearance at Basildon Crown Court via video link from Chelmsford Prison.

Regarding the inappropriate photographs discovered on Brett Welldon’s laptop, Judge Graham stated: “These are grave issues, not solely due to the repugnant content, but because these are images of actual children being exploited; it is not mere fantasy.”

He was sentenced to a three-year community order, which includes 250 hours of unpaid labour and mandatory participation in a sex offender program.

Brett Welldon will be classified as a registered sex offender for a duration of five years.
