A Cockermouth Sex Offender from West Cumbria, Brad Steele, convicted of sexual assault, is required to notify the police if he enters into a new relationship following the issuance of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Brad Steele, 29, is required to reveal his registered sex offender status to each individual with whom he enters into a relationship, as stipulated by the order.
Brad Steele entered a guilty plea for sexual assault against a female during his appearance at Workington Magistrates’ Court last month and received his sentence for the offence on Tuesday.
The defendant engaged in non-consensual sexual contact with a woman and lacked a reasonable belief that she was consenting. The offence occurred last year.
Brad Steele, residing at Printers Court, Cockermouth, was mandated to register on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a duration of five years.
The five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) mandates that the offender must furnish the police with the name and contact information of any female with whom he is entering into a growing connection.
Information must be provided to the police offender management section within 24 hours of establishing any such relationship.
Brad Steele is required to reveal his registered sex offender status and the presence of the SHPO to every individual with whom he engages in a non-platonic relationship, ‘as soon as is reasonably practical.’
Brad Steele is additionally barred from entering any vehicle with an unaccompanied female or permitting any unaccompanied female to enter a vehicle in which he is present, provided she is a family member or is informed of his sexual crime conviction.
He shall not lure or attempt to lure, nor permit to remain in any premises he occupies as his dwelling or any temporarily inhabited premises, any solitary female unless she is a member of his family or is aware of his conviction for a sexual offence.
Brad Steele is prohibited from entering or remaining in any dwelling or residence where a solitary female is present, unless she is a family member or is informed of his conviction for a sexual offence.
Magistrates ordered a 12-month community order requiring 120 days of alcohol abstinence and monitoring, along with the completion of 200 hours of unpaid work.
Brad Steele was mandated to pay £1,000 in restitution to his victim and received a 12-month restraining order prohibiting any form of contact with the victim.
