In 2023, Benjamin Agyemang, the Southwark Paedophile, who enticed adolescent girls with promises of modelling opportunities and subsequently took them to his flat for sexual exploitation, was sentenced to prison.

Benjamin Agyemang, residing on Marlborough Grove in Southwark, was convicted following the disclosure of the abuse by a victim-survivor a decade later.

A 45-year-old individual received a sentence of 13 and a half years in prison at Inner London Crown Court on Thursday, November 9.

On Wednesday, September 27, Benjamin Agyemang was convicted of one count of attempting to solicit a female under the age of 21 for illicit sexual intercourse, two charges of arranging or enabling the commission of a child sex offence, and four counts of engaging in sexual conduct with a minor.

Detectives conducted a two-year investigation into a case that extended over a 20-year period, resulting in the discovery of additional victim-survivors.

The court was informed that Benjamin Agyemang specifically targeted girls aged between 14 and 16 at the time of the acts.

Benjamin Agyemang, known as ‘Marshay,’ enticed them with promises of modelling opportunities before transporting them to his residence in Elephant and Castle for sexual exploitation.

In 2021, a woman disclosed incidents of sexual abuse and exploitation that occurred in 2008 when she was 14 years old.

Benjamin Agyemang, using the alias ‘Marshay Ramone’, contacted her on the street, claiming he could facilitate her entry into music video modelling.

Authorities report that she resided at his flat for extended periods, subjected to manipulation and unable to escape, where she endured sexual exploitation by Benjamin Agyemang and numerous paying clients daily.

During this period, she observed him sexually exploiting other girls and young women.

Benjamin Agyemang was apprehended subsequent to the report, and law enforcement proceeded to identify further victims.

Law enforcement officials discovered and contacted a school buddy of the initial victim-survivor.

Authorities discovered that at the age of 15, she visited Benjamin Agyemang’s residence on two occasions, during which she was sexually assaulted by a ‘client.’

A subsequent victim-survivor was identified via meticulous research. She recounted that at the age of 16, she visited Benjamin Agyemang’s flat under the pretence that he could assist her in becoming a model.

He escorted her to a bar and presented her to an affluent older man whom he claimed was significant in the modelling industry.

Benjamin Agyemang had deceitfully “sold” her as an escort without her awareness.

She was transported to the man’s residence and subjected to severe sexual assault.

In June 2022, Benjamin Agyemang was further arrested and charged with offences against all three victim-survivors.

If you have been a victim of sexual assault or rape or you have information about an offender, contact police on 101 or 999 in an emergency – there are specially trained officers who will listen and investigate where needed.

Detective Constable Kate Orr, from the Met’s Specialist Crime team, who carried out the investigation, said: “I would like to commend the courage and strength of these women, and I hope today’s outcome provides them with some degree of closure.

“Sexual predators like Agyemang, who groom girls, are often able to escape justice for years due to the fear and shame they instil in their victims.

“It’s not uncommon for it to take many years before victim-survivors feel able to report offences to police.

“The fact that offences may have taken place a long time ago does not make investigating them any less of a priority.

“I hope this investigation will encourage victims of sexual offending to come forward to the police.

“We have specially trained officers who will listen carefully to allegations and investigate them thoroughly, with a view to getting justice for victim-survivors and protecting future victims.”
