Aydin Kolliari, 18, from Southampton, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, 30 May 2025, after being convicted in a prior trial of two counts of rape, five counts of assault by beating, two counts of intentional strangulation, as well as charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

On Sunday, 29 September 2024, at around 10:30 AM, officers addressed concerns over the occupants of a room at the Hunters Moon Lodge in Middlemarsh, subsequent to complaints of a disturbance.

Officers arrived and discovered the victim in distress, leading to the arrest of Aydin Kolliari, who was familiar to her, at the site.

The victim stated that the defendant, Aydin Kolliari, assaulted her by striking her face with her phone, followed by kicking her and placing his hand on her throat.

Subsequently, it was reported that Aydin Kolliari sexually assaulted his victim.

The victim received assistance from officers and subsequently provided additional disclosures regarding physical and sexual assault perpetrated by the defendant.

Investigations Officer Florence Winstanley, of Dorset County CID, said: “Thanks to the swift response of officers when this was first reported, we were able to intervene while the victim was being subjected to a violent sexual assault.

“We were able to safeguard her and thanks to her subsequent courage to disclose the full extent of Aydin Kolliari’s offending, we were able to compile extensive evidence and ultimately secure a conviction.

“The victim’s bravery in supporting our enquiries and the subsequent court process has helped put a violent sexual offender behind bars.

“I hope the strength she has shown will encourage other victims of domestic violence and sexual offences to have the courage to come forward in the knowledge that they will be fully supported and we will carry out a robust investigation to hold perpetrators to account.”
