A Westcliff Paedophile SCHOOLTEACHER Austin Betts has confessed to collecting a collection of indecent photographs of minors and extreme pornography involving animals.

Austin Betts, formerly an instructor at Woodlands School in Basildon, is scheduled for sentencing at Basildon Crown Court next week following his guilty plea to multiple charges.

A 32-year-old resident, Austin Betts, of Mendip Crescent, Westcliff, acknowledged three counts of producing indecent photos of minors, two counts of disseminating indecent images of minors, and possession of extreme pornography featuring animals during a magistrates court hearing in May.

School administrators communicated with parents yesterday, affirming that he had acknowledged the offences, while also asserting that background checks were conducted previous to his hiring and that they had collaborated with the police inquiry.

The headteacher stated that Austin Betts has not been present on the school premises since July 2021.

He was reportedly suspended upon the school’s awareness of the charges against him, while school officials declined to offer further details.

In a letter to parents, Headteacher David Wright stated: We can confirm that Austin Betts, a former teacher, has pleaded guilty to the creation and distribution of obscene pictures.

We wish to reassure the school community that we conducted all necessary safeguarding checks before to his employment and have fully cooperated with the police inquiry. He has not been present on the school premises since July 2021.

The school’s leadership team is profoundly astonished by this news; however, there is no indication that any of the offences pertain to students or staff at the institution. If any members of the school community are impacted by these events, we will, of course, provide necessary support.

Austin Betts is scheduled for sentencing on Monday at Basildon Crown Court following his admission of the charges at Basildon Magistrates Court on May 24.
