A woman from Huddersfield has been praised for her bravery in reporting and assisting in the conviction of Ashley Furey, the Sex Offender Rapist, who sexually assaulted and exerted coercive control over her.
Kirklees police have stated their commitment to assist victims and punish offenders following the sentencing of 33-year-old Ashley Furey at Leeds Crown Court on 11 September.
Ashley Furey, residing on Edale Avenue, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison after confessing to multiple offences against a woman in Huddersfield between 2024 and early 2025.
The 33-year-old admitted guilt to two charges of sexual touching and two charges of coercive and controlling behaviour.
On 21 January 2025, the woman contacted the police to report a series of offences committed against her by Ashley Furey.
These encompassed sexual offences and a systematic campaign of harassment, during which Ashley Furey would appear outside her residence and occasionally call her over 100 times daily.
The report promptly initiated an investigation by specialised officers from the Kirklees Adult Safeguarding Unit, resulting in Ashley Furey’s arrest within hours of the victim’s disclosure.
He was apprehended by the police and charged on 23 January to appear before magistrates the following day.
In addition to his incarceration, Ashley Furey was subjected to an indefinite restraining order and registered as a sex offender.
