In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Ashley Brian Evans, then 37, was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court. Evans was jailed for a series of predatory online offences after he attempted to groom a profile he believed belonged to a 14-year-old girl.
The court heard that in April 2025, Ashley Brian Evans used Facebook to befriend a girl he thought was 14. He engaged in persistent and inappropriate conversations, specifically requesting indecent photographs of the child, including images of her in her school uniform. During the grooming process, Evans sent an explicit video of himself to the profile and attempted to initiate highly sexualized chats.
Evans was unaware that the profile was actually a decoy. Northamptonshire Police were alerted to his activities, leading to his arrest. During the investigation, officers also found Evans to have Class A drugs. He was subsequently charged with attempting to cause a child to watch a person engaging in sexual activity, trying to engage in sexual communication with a child, and attempting to cause a child to engage in sexual activity.
On December 12, 2025, Ashley Brian Evans was sentenced to three years and four months in prison. In addition to his custodial sentence, Evans will be placed on the sex offenders register for a period determined by the court and will likely be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to monitor his future internet usage and contact with minors.
