Thanks to the British Public, the abusive father of heroic Tony Hudgell, Anthony Smith, who suffered severe maltreatment as an infant resulting in the amputation of both legs, will be released from prison later this week.

Anthony Smith, sentenced to ten years in jail in 2018, was granted parole on June 19.

The 54-year-old will be released tomorrow on terms that include wearing a GPS monitor and remaining at a designated location.

This occurs two months after the release of Tony’s biological mother, 34-year-old Jody Simpson.

The individuals were found guilty of inflicting or permitting Tony’s injuries and neglecting to seek assistance for him.

Tony, at 41 days old, overcame challenges to become the youngest recipient of the British Empire Medal for his fundraising endeavours.

His adoptive mother, Paula Hudgell, 57, stated: “I have observed no indication that Anthony Smith possesses any remorse for his actions, nor any comprehension of the impact he has had on Tony’s life.”

Tony will endure his injuries for the remainder of his life, as they are permanent consequences of the actions taken by Smith and his former partner against their child.

“Anthony Smith poses a threat to children, and if he is not recalled within the next two years for violating his licence, he will be at liberty to act as he wishes.”

It seems profoundly unjust that Tony will continue to endure his limits, while the individual responsible for imposing them will soon be free of any constraints.
