In 2018, the Offender Database reported that Anson Antcliff, then 50, formerly of Northallerton, North Yorkshire, was sentenced at Teesside Crown Court.

Anson Antcliff was handed a ten-month suspended prison sentence after his wife discovered his illicit collection of child abuse material, leading to a police raid on his home. The court heard that investigators uncovered a vast quantity of videos and pictures stored across eight different electronic devices, revealing the extent of his long-term involvement with illegal content.

The prosecution detailed how Anson Antcliff had been a member of an online chat room specifically designed to encourage paedophiles to share and exchange images with one another. During the proceedings, it was noted that Anson Antcliff had started watching pornography at a very early age, which eventually escalated into the consumption of child sexual abuse material.

Judge Sean Morris told Anson Antcliff that he had “lost everything” due to his criminal behaviour and issued a stern warning that any future attempts to access such material would result in immediate imprisonment. Anson Antcliff, who has since moved to Merseyside, admitted to three counts of making indecent images of children, a legal term that includes the downloading and saving of such files from the internet.

In addition to the suspended sentence, Anson Antcliff was placed on the sex offenders register for ten years and handed a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to monitor and restrict his use of computers strictly. He was also ordered to complete a 50-day rehabilitation activity requirement to continue working with the Probation Service on addressing his offending behaviour.
