In 2022, detectives were investigating suspected trafficking victims in West Yorkshire following the incarceration of Anghel Iordache, the Harehills Sex Offender, for modern slavery and related prostitution charges.
Anghel Iordache, 49, of Harehills, was sentenced to over 11 years in prison at Leeds Crown Court in July after a troubling welfare check in Leeds.
The inquiry following Anghel Iordache’s detention led to the implementation of protective measures for two women.
Detectives from the Leeds Child Vulnerable to Exploitation Team (CVET) suspect that Anghel Iordache may have trafficked further women for sexual exploitation.
Detective Inspector Al Cheyne stated: “We wish to seize this opportunity, now that Anghel Iordache is incarcerated for an extended period, to appeal to women who suspect they were trafficked into the country by him.”
“Individuals who come forward will receive assistance from our specially trained officers.”
Leeds CVET can be contacted via the Live Chat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website or by calling 101.
