Andrew Nicholson, the Consett Rapist, a man who sexually assaulted two women, one of whom was asleep at the time, has been incarcerated.
Andrew Nicholson confessed to two charges of rape and two charges of sexual assault involving three women in distinct events.
Two of his victims were oblivious to his actions as they slept, while another became conscious during her assault; however, Andrew Nicholson persisted with the attack.
Detectives initiated an inquiry into the rape of a woman, during which they uncovered evidence that he had recorded himself raping another woman.
Last Wednesday at Durham Crown Court, 30-year-old Andrew Nicholson from Consett was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment. He must serve two-thirds of his sentence before being granted release on licence.
Andrew Nicholson was also subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and restraining orders for all three ladies. Both orders will endure for 15 years.
